Boa Vista

Desert dunes, endless beaches and sea turtles

Boa Vista — overview

Boa Vista is Cape Verde's third-largest island and its wildest beach destination — a flat, sand-swept island with over 55 km of untouched shoreline, small oasis villages and a genuine Saharan-desert feel in the interior dunes of Viana. The main town, Sal Rei, is calm and charming; resorts cluster along Praia de Chaves and Praia de Santa Mónica, regularly ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world. Boa Vista is also the most important nesting site in the Atlantic for the loggerhead turtle, with nighttime guided tours from July to October.
