What a find! Vannilla is a lovely guesthouse with clean, tastefully decorated rooms and an absolutely lovely balcony area overlooking Mindelo. It’s located up on the hill about a 10 minute walk from the centre - easy to walk into the centre downhill, and then if you are feeling lazy, you can get a taxi back for just over a Euro! We had one of the en-suite rooms, which was huge with an enormous bathroom, and a door that opened directly into the terrace, and was very reasonably priced for Mindelo. The guesthouse also had a kitchen which we made use of one evening to cook when we were too tired to eat out. Katie, our host was lovely and made us feel very welcome. I would definitely recommend Vannilla to anyone looking to stay in Mindelo.

Wonderful, helpful host who went out of her way to help us in any way possible. Definitely stay there if you're ever in Mindelo, our room also had a great view over the port and the city below. Fantastic value for money too!

Nice place with great view... good value for your money. but most importantly: Katy, the owner, is fantastic! really warm and fun person, always there to help or chat, makes amazing homemade breakfast and even helped us with our carnaval costumes ;). Best host we have had in a long long time. She opened up the place a few months ago and is still improving everything. Expect scooter rental and many smaller improvements in the near future. Greatly recommended!!!

There's a beautiful view from the balcony and the breakfast is great! It's a 10 minute walk to the beach.
