We spent a week in April 2024 on the gorgeous Caboverdian Island of Maio in this gorgeous estate - Torre Sabina. If you are looking for a most romantic and far from the beaten-track oasis of paradise, as if "swept away by the wind" amidst the indigo and turquoise warm ocean waters and tucked on the white-sand dunes, with a couple of fishing boats peacefully rocking in the distance on gentle waves, search no more: just pack and get to Torre Sabina! There are two simple but cozy bungalows, with good-size and well-working bathrooms, excellent firm bed mattresses, to select from: a spacious "Chapel" and a Moorish-style exotic three-level Tower (Torre) with a winding staircase and turret windows - at night-time with a great view to a stars-filled sky and at day-time to the magnificent colours of the Atlantic Ocean. A lovely local lady Isidora thoroughly cleans the bungalows on a daily basis. If you want to get lost in time and space and have a total immersion into pampering and relaxation, meet the estate's chef Ms. Elida. Professionally trained and with work experience in big hotels on the island of Sal, she pours her heart and innate talent into cooking breakfasts and dinners and serving them in the most romantic setting: at the sunset on the patio fronting the beach, amidst the palms, the Oriental-style post chandeliers are turned on casting their soft glimmer on the changing and cooling-down air of the approaching night. On your plate, you will find a fresh catch of the local fish, grilled or baked, adorned with simple and delicious local vegetables and rice or potatoes. A palate-exciting dessert will follow. A very healthy and delicious treat with the local cuisine! On top, you will be offered a choice of local wines from the island of Fogo. We highly recommend a white dry Cha! Lastly, while lost in time and space from the total relaxation and pamper, there comes an amazing surprise of finding yourself in the midst of European intellectual sophistication: each of the bungalows has a variety of books in various European languages and the owner of the estate - Ms. Sabina - fluently! speaks English, Portuguese, Kriol, German, French, and her son Walter, a travel booking expert (who is temporarily helping her with the management), fluently! speaks English, German, Portuguese, and Kriol. You want to brush up on your foreign languages - Torre Sabina is an ideal place for doing this. Lastly, but not the least important, you always see on the faces of Sabina, Walter, Elida and Isidora their beautiful smiles and their constant readiness to ensure that your stay at this oasis of paradise will be your most memorable experience! A truly outstanding accommodation, inspired by the Greek islands and Hundertwasser. The best place in Cape Verde, with fantastic breakfast and dinner. Sabina and Walter are dedicated and lovely hosts. Absolutely top-notch.
