Fantastic place to decompress. Lovely host, great food. Note: middle-of-nowhere-get-a-4x4 retreat. Best food on the island, and understated luxury: this is not a 5 star hotel but it exceeds most of the ones we’ve been to in total experience. Mind you there is no sand beach nearby and it is the north side of the island 💨. OTOH, it has a fantastic pool (yeah, somehow not mentioned on the website) and a yoga shack where goats and donkeys will watch your flow with amazement.

Unfortunately, our experience at Springuera Ecolodge was very disappointing, mainly due to the behaviour of one staff member, Rosa. On several occasions, she came across as arrogant and unwelcoming. I’ll give an example: At breakfast, we sat down at a table that had apparently been used by another couple on previous days. There was no sign or indication that tables were assigned, so we could not possibly know this. When the other guests arrived, they politely sat at another table and wished us good morning. No issue at all. However, Rosa then came outside and, in French, started complaining to those guests about us, saying she “didn’t know what to do with us” and that she found it extremely rude that we had sat at “their table”. This was said openly, about us, to other guests, while we were present. Both the guests and ourselves were clearly uncomfortable and surprised by this behaviour. What made it even more awkward is that Rosa had by accident given me the French breakfast menu just minutes earlier and I had confirmed that French was perfectly fine for me, so she was fully aware that I could understand everything she was saying. Speaking negatively about guests to other guests is, in our opinion, a basic breach of hospitality etiquette. Regardless of any internal rules or preferences, this situation could have been handled discreetly and respectfully. The location itself is beautiful, which makes this experience even more unfortunate, but the lack of professionalism and courtesy made us feel very unwelcome. We would not recommend this place unless there is a significant improvement in guest communication and attitude.

Staff is rude and service below zero. Rosa is such a disgrace… She speaks about you with other guests while you’re sitting next to them. She thought we only spoke Italian and English and thought it was a good idea to start a conversation to French guests in French about us 🫠🫠

This is a magical place. It’s stunning! Everything is beautifully and thoughtfully designed. So serene, comfortable and relaxing. It’s the perfect mix between luxury and simple living. The property itself is huge with lots of trails to explore the incredible landscape. And the food! Wow. Some of the best food in Cape Verde. So unique and tasty. Singuera is the perfect way to experience Boa Vista.

Beautiful lodge in a beautiful spot on earth. The lodge is very lovingly furnished and attention is paid to every detail. The food served is unsurpassable. Healthy, high quality, perfect portions. The staff are very helpful and polite and try to assist you with everything. The highlight and the only flaw is the remoteness. It takes at least 30 minutes to drive over bumpy roads to Sal Rei. But you are in one of the most beautiful places on the island and can really relax. But if you're looking for a beach holiday, you've come to the wrong place
