The hotel is very dated. The staff is unfriendly and speaks little to no English. Breakfast is mediocre. Existing photos make the hotel look better than it actually is. Therefore, I've added new photos.

My stay, October 2025, at the, Salav Guesthouse, Residência Largo da Praça Cruz do Papa, Cabo Verde, was interrupted when the staff handed me a bill to pay for a new shower head, which was found broken, after returning from my day events. I felt personally, humiliated and falsely accused. I refused to pay. The entire matter was conducted unprofessionally and lacked decorum. Futhermore, they forced my Tour company to pay instead. Also my lock on the room broke because of wood rot. I slept a night with an unlocked door. The owner suggested I pay the repairs. I recommend you take photos.

Excellent guesthouse very close to a great beach and some of the nicest restaurants. Clean and spacious rooms. Great beds. The owner speaks and understands English. Breakfast is simple but enough. Even for a big eater like me.

Great guesthouse featuring great (included) breakfast. I stayed here 3 nights moved to another hotel and then came back as the 4 star hotel was just ok. The house is beautifully decorated and has a lot of African cool. The employees are super nice and very service oriented. You have to be sure we’re u want to stay. If you want to be close to the beach and walking 3 min uphill is not your thing, look elsewhere. This place is a short walk from shopping and restaurants, but if u are not willing to walk you may not like it.

Very friendly staff and super clean. But it was very loud at night due to the bar on the beach and the street. The view was good but if you can, book a room on the other side of the house without a balcony.
