Went here for a quick bite to eat, my partner is coeliac and we understand the struggles of trying to explain this in Cape Verde. But it was understood. Because of cross contamination he asked for sweet potato mash, which was one of the side options on the menu. We explained the reason as to why he couldn’t eat fried stuff and again this was understood. When the food arrived they have dumped 2 hash browns on the plate with no explanation as to why and we were missing the other side included in the meal, sauted vegetables. When we raised the issues we were told, oh we don’t have sweet potato mash, well why the hell is it on the menu and did no one say he couldn’t have it. Everyone kept coming an asking if our food was okay and when explaining the problem you could see there was disappointment but nothing further from there. He ate 2 small chicken drumsticks described as ‘chicken legs’ and this was about it. But I do also believe the chicken drumsticks may have been deep fried as he has had a terrible reaction this morning. The lady at the till gave us 10% off when paying, about £3/4 but tbh the meal wasn’t worth a penny we paid for it. Very disappointing.

Now called Vista Mar Went for lunch and orderd spicy chicken wings and nachos for a small snack both where bad. Chicken wings where dryer than the Sahara desert. That was for the ground beef of the nachos the same and the cheese sauce was like butter. Once and no more at this establishment.

Great location, very friendly staff, ordered a cheese pizza and can honestly say it was the worse pizza l have ever had , the first pizza was so undercooked we had to send it back the staff were very apologetic, the second pizza was not much better, l have never eaten cheese like this it was like eating chewing gum ☹️ Such a shame for such a lovely venue,

Now known as Vista Mar (restaurant). Fab location and food is ok but check your bill carefully if you eat here. We found 3 hidden 'sides' added to ours which staff insisted we had ordered (although we had neither asked for or received) and it was only when we made enough fuss that the manager came and removed them with an apology and said he hoped it wouldn't prevent us returning. We definitely won't return: you can get far better food elsewhere in santa maria with the bonus of honest staff too.

The food is absolutely disgusting. The cocktails were watered down. But the staff and live music was nice. It was just cover reggae when I went there but the atmosphere was nice and ok if you're drinking beer. But the food is poor, lack of flavour including no salt (considering so much salt available on the island). Everyone is smoking everywhere too so its a bit hard when you have children. It's right on the beach though.
