If you want to try the best lobster on Sal, in our experience Buddha Beach is the place to go. We tried lobster at several restaurants across the island, and this was by far the most impressive. Perfectly grilled, meaty yet juicy, tender, and packed with flavor — not overcooked or dry. Ours was also the largest we had anywhere on the island (lobster is sold by weight, so size may vary). It’s a bit pricier than other spots, but completely worth the splurge. We also had a sushi platter and ceviche. They were good, though the lobster clearly steals the show. The restaurant is part of a small boutique hotel in Santa Maria, giving it a quiet, intimate vibe. Just a handful of tables, relaxed atmosphere, and table service — a refreshing change from crowded resort restaurants.

Myself and my husband stayed for 5 nights b&b in February. Great boutique hotel, staff were amazingly friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good with a big variety of things to choose from. We ate once in the evening and had a couple of lunchtime snacks/ drinks. All very fresh and nice. The Only slight negative thing was the repetitive 80s breakup music! Personally they would've been better of playing chill background music! We still had a great time! Thank you 🤩

I stayed at the Budha Beach Hotel, so I ate at the restaurant every day. The food was amazing. It was very delicious, good portions and very well presented. I had numerous dishes, and there wasn't anything that I thought was not up to par. The lobster paella was superb with the lobster cooked perfectly. The family all enjoyed their meals and drinks. They also make lovely cocktails. The meals do take a while to arrive because they are freshly cooked, but it is definitely worth waiting for. We enjoyed the food so much we had to go and speak to the chef to convey our appreciation. The restaurant itself is within the hotel, which is very attractive. My only gripe were the flies that harass you in the afternoons due to the nearby shell cemetery beach. They are less of a problem in the evenings. The staff are always friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for their amazing food and location.

The restaurant had a very relaxed, chilled atmosphere. The service was top notch and friendly, with the staff being very welcoming and attentive. Food was so delicious for dinner, all made fresh to order and very reasonable priced. I loved the fresh fish & seafood on offer, and the different dessert options as well. The grilled tuna was a highlight for me (see picture) tasted so delicious and so fresh! They had a wide selection of drinks as well, including cocktails, wines, beers, spirits and soft drinks. With Breakfast (which was included in my stay), there was a standard buffet spread of breads, pastries and fruits, alongside fresh juices and tea/coffee options, which you pick and choose as you please. However I was very surprised that an a la carte menu was included with breakfast as well, and the cachupa with fried eggs and bacon was the best (see picture), lovely breakfast take on a Cape Verdean staple. Overall the restaurant was fantastic and the staff amazing! Would highly recommend!

My boyfriend and I stayed at Budha Beach hotel for a week at the end of October 2025 - and we ate breakfast every day at the restaurant. The restaurant is always clean and there’s great tables that overlook the ocean - which is perfect to start the day. The staff were so friendly and accommodating, the selection of food (breads, ham, cheese, freshly baked cakes & savoury pastries, and fruit) was always inviting and enjoyable - plus we were able to order ‘a la carte’ for other things made to order like eggs, bacon, crepes and catchupa. Milady & Indy were fantastic, always smiling and great at their jobs. We loved it. Thank you.
