I am in Ribeira Grande for 2 weeks so I am rating all the restaurants in the city. This one has the worst reviews, so is almost the last one I am experiencing. I am giving 4 stars because it's not that bad how people painted in the reviews. Overall waiting 1 hour or more for your food in Cape Verde is just "normal". We waited 20 min, positive points for that. Soup was extremely hot but amazing in flavor. The vegetarian pasta was nice, just too much butter in the flavour, when the plate arrived I mentally complained about the amount of pasta they give me, you can laugh with me in the pictures (like I immediately thought, I can eat 3 of these easly, but then the butter flavour just give me the sensation that one was enough). The waiter forget our drinks and we didn't ask again. Lunch without drinks why not. Overall people working in restaurants in Santo Antão are just "empty", they look like they don't want to be there, smiling is not an option, and that's quiet sad of them when work with tourism. Place was quiet, we had lunch at 2pm maybe that's why. Be aware at dinner time 7/8pm your experience can be very different!

This place was never mentioned on Google compared to the few other cafe/restaurants in Ribeira Grande - it apparently reopened in March 2023 after a 5 year absence. It's in a great location next to the main church, with seating outside and in. It's brighter than the other places with a decently stocked bar and comprehensive food menu, including a dish of the day (pictured). Friendly, clean and well priced (dish of the day 400 CVE / 4 EUR, beers 200 CVE / 2 EUR).

Terrible. Cachupa was dry, nothing but a scoop of chickpeas and two fried eggs aside. Shrimp (defrosted) served on a small plate (maybe 8 pieces) with nothing else (no sauce), fries ordered separately. Worst food in Sao Vincente. Cards not accepted (POS not working), bring cash or better avoid.

The fish (5 portions) was undercooked, the meat stuck to the bones, almost impossible to eat. The worst food experience of our trip to Cape Verde.

Super friendly staff, they even made us vegan cachupa which tasted like heaven and was much needed after a long and exhausting hike. We came back another 2 times because we liked it so much! Thank you for making vegan travel and still being able to enjoy local food possible in Santo Antão!
