Great food, drinks and service. The waiter spoke some English and gave us very helpful tips regarding our trip to the volcano (Pico do Fogo). Prices were higher so most of the customers were foreigners like us.

Book in advance to make sure to get a table outside. The big charm is to sit outside and see the sunset. The waiter did an excellent job in helping all at the filled table, but settle yourself to the Cape Verde time and way of life, and you won’t mind the wait. The refreshing caipirinha was a nice touch to start the evening. We had the chicken with peanut sauce and the pasta. The chicken was very good. When rating pasta it is a tough one once you’ve had Italien pasta. But it was a nice sauce, and the pasta was al’dente. After having a lot of beans and vegetables at other places it was nice with a chance. The furniture inside the restaurants weren’t that comfortable.

The restaurant is now at a new location with a nice veranda overlooking the old part of São Filipe and the ocean. Even though most foreigners rather eat outside, the owners have decorated the inside really nicely, conferring the room a pleasant atmosphere. The staff was friendly and helpful. The only downside was that the grilled tuna steak and the "serra" steak were very dry, which spoiled their taste. Additionally the choice of vegetables should try to include more leafy veggies instead of mainly roots. In an island as Fogo with such a large fruit production, it was surprising that the only fruit they had for dessert was banana.

This used to be called Renate's Cafe. Posh, with an eye for detail, this is - hands down - THE best place to dine in Sao Filipe. Yum and worth every cent. Cool also to enjoy a sundowner, as the place is truly pretty with a breath-taking ocean view towards Brava island.

We had dinner at this bar-restaurant. Nice terrace and very good food, Senegal style even if not lots of choice.
