Warning! This location is also on google with the name Pensao Casa José Doce. Look at mine and other revieuws there. It seems the owner regulary try to remove reviews and log in with an other name. Anywhy on booking.com he canceled our stay by booking, (but whe stayed there for sure) so you can not review the place badly.

Had a very good stay with Jose, nice and spacious rooms. We went up to Fogo peak with Carlos which was truly amazing. Jose provided also transport and information.

Jose and his staff gave me a very warm welcome. The quality and quantity of the food was more than acceptable. He arrived as agreed and helped me with minor issues and other last-minute arrangements. I definitely recommend this accommodation, which I found to be very competitively priced.

VERY BAD ACCOMMODATION EXPERIENCE! When we arrived, the room wasn't ready. We had to wait outside while they cleaned it. The food was overpriced for the quality. Also, although breakfast was included in the booking, it wasn't served on the second day. Internet access, as well as water and electricity, weren't available all day. Jose picked us up at the port and gave us a special price, but the journey, which should have taken an hour by taxi or car rental, ended up taking three hours due to all the stops we made to pick up and load our things. We felt CHEATED.

Absolutely nothing. José is a person who wants to organize your stay his way, leaving you no chance to do anything on your own. He uses rude and even aggressive manners. The food is terrible and very expensive; there's only electricity and internet at night, and nothing during the day. When we said goodbye, he coerced us into leaving positive reviews online. And he has his name and phone number painted on the rocks along the entire path to the crater, a total vandal. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this place to ANYONE. Just a short walk away is Pensión Danilo, where the atmosphere, food, and hospitality are infinitely better, and it's also cheaper.
