Lovely local pension hotel that is not listed on any booking platforms yet. Very kind staff, 5 min walk to/from the bus stop from where the minivans to Santa Maria depart. Breakfast is simple, with too many sweet items, for my taste, but with freshly baked cake every day. They have storage room too. 2Hot water and WiFi. Price: EUR 29 (3000 escudos) for single room. Minus one star for the cleanness in the bathroom (there were mold and limescale on the walls/taps). Also, since it is a centrally located building, it may be noisy at night during national holidays such as New Year (Cabo Verdeans start celebrating at around midnight and continue until morning)

Interesting place. Meant to be the main city on the island. Not as you would expect. Apart from a couple of cafes and restaurants, little shops in pokey doorways. Reminiscent of a shanty town trying its hardest but not quite getting there.

They are great. We spent a really nice time in the pensao. The food is a little repetitive but very cheap and the rooms are big and clean.

Excellent budget hotel, probably the best in Espargos, if not Sal. Hot water takes time, but so what, who's rushing on this island?
