Everything about this place is sketchy!!! Complete (!) lack of hiking safety. (Very) reckless driving in mountains. Host is unstable and aggressive. Unwarranted creepy behaviour towards female guests. Room standard is bare minimum - water and power cuts daily. No choice or predictability of food/meals.

A police matter due to fraud. Completely dishonest staff. While I was walking from the city center looking for the accommodation I had booked, the owner of this place approached me. I told him I was looking for my hotel and showed him my reservation. He said, "That’s my hotel," so I got into his car. After checking in, I realized it was not the hotel I had actually booked. Five hours later, I received a message from my reserved accommodation, which made me realize I had been deceived. I requested a refund, but he refused to return my money. This place is not recommended as accommodation. They do not turn on the electricity until it gets dark, making it impossible to charge devices. The room is full of gaps, making it feel cold. There is no Wi-Fi. Be sure to check other low-rated reviews.

This is not just a place to sleep, but a whole unforgettable experience! José and the whole crew are amazing people, always friendly and taking care of every detail. The hostel has amazing views to both volcano and caldera, and they also organize the transfers from SaoFilipe and the guides to the Pico. This makes it cheaper and nicer as you can share the experience with other guests. The facilities are not luxurious but have anything you need, and it was also very clean. I would have definitely spent more time there even if just to relax and enjoy the atmosphere :)

José is a wonderful host, the rooms are super clean. Breakfast and diner are so well cooked that it was a true pleasure each time. And José is just the best !! We made the ascension of the Picco early in the morning with him, he was a great guide. I only can recommande this place !

Very nice place, charming walls made out of lava. Bedroom is good, needless to say the place is very quiet to have a good rest! Jose French is perfect, very friendly and full of advice about the country! Breakfast and dinner are good. Would recommend without hesitation!
