The reviews of this resort are very daunting at first, but please don’t get caught up on them because in my opinion, they are very dramatic. I have just returned home from my visit here, and not once did I feel frustrated with any part of the experience. The staff are extremely lovely and can’t do enough for you. The buffet isn’t the most spectacular, but it definitely has options (i’m just a picky eater, which in that case I found the snack bar was better for me). We didn’t face any hygiene issues. They constantly switch the food out every 5-10 minutes, the staff are really on the ball with cleaning tables, cutlery, surfaces & offering/refilling peoples drinks. If you use your common sense & sanitise, you will literally be fine. The beds (in my opinion) were not as uncomfortable as people on these reviews make them out to be. Yes, they are hard, but that didn’t bother me. The room service was pleasant & efficient. Upon arrival they offer you drinks and almost immediately take your bags for you, guide you to your room and give you all the information you need. The wifi isn’t spectacular, but it does the job. It’s a really lovely resort and a fabulous stay. It’s somewhere i’d 100% return to, and i’m very glad I didn’t listen to the reviews and book elsewhere.

We stayed at the Meliá Llana Beach Spa & Resort for our honeymoon, and the experience was deeply disappointing for a hotel that markets itself as a 5-star resort. Connectivity and Room Service The Wi-Fi was unacceptable. It never worked in our room, which is simply not reasonable nowadays specially at this price point. The room itself was comfortable, but housekeeping was inconsistent throughout our stay: some days it was cleaned before 11 a.m., other days as late as 3 p.m. On several occasions, towels were removed and not replaced, forcing us to call and ask for them. One morning, the staff member restocking the minibar or water left our room door wide open. When we returned from breakfast, the door was still open and the room hadn’t been cleaned. We reported this to reception and were only sent towels, no cleaning, no explanation. Fortunately, nothing was missing, but the situation was unacceptable. On our last day, when we returned from breakfast at 9:30 a.m., our room access had already been deactivated, as if we were being pushed out early, despite checkout being at 12:00. Spa and Facilities The so-called spa is a joke. It essentially offers massages only. The jacuzzi had cold water and was almost empty, and another facility (either the sauna or steam room) was not working. The TV is not a smart TV. Only four channels showing the same movies on repeat. Dining Experience The Pura Vida restaurant is not what it advertises. You must book in advance, the menu is extremely limited (basically meat or burgers), and the “BBQ” option costs an extra €40. The tuna tartare was not fresh and made me feel unwell afterward. Pools and General Service Getting a sunbed by the pool is nearly impossible because guests reserve them with towels early in the morning, and the hotel does nothing to control this. The food overall was acceptable but nothing special. We informed the hotel in advance that this was our honeymoon and asked about services and reservations. They replied two days after we had already checked in. Basic information about the hotel (towels, reservations, snacks, transportation to Santa Maria, etc.) is only provided if you explicitly ask. At checkout, no one asked about our stay, no feedback, no thanks, not even a simple “we hope you enjoyed your time.” Staff and Overall Impression Only a handful of staff members were genuinely kind. Most seemed to be just doing their jobs with minimal interaction or care. Overall, this was an experience far below expectations, mediocre in many aspects and frankly disappointing, especially as it was meant to be the final part of our honeymoon.

Just had a week at the Melia Llana. As others have said it's not a 5 star hotel, but certainly 4 star. Plus points are: Great location Friendly staff Good choice of food All inclusive drinks not bad and includes some cocktails. Rooms cleaned daily. Good variety of entertainment. Big comfortable rooms. (Yes, beds are hard, but comfortable). Negative points (Room for improvement). Breakfast can be chaotic. No cups and no coffee. Staff seem to not be managed and short staffed at times Allowing towels to be put on sun loungers and left half the day and not used. We booked a swim up room purely so we knew we had somewhere to sit. Towels removed by cleaners from rooms. Told will be replaced later, but they don't turn up. Had to ask and they arrived after 9pm. Internet in room is hit and miss whether it connects or not. It is better in main areas, but not much better. Drinks in room supposed to be every two days. Had to ask after three days. Then sorted myself with staff. Not my job attitude in certain areas. Blue gloves next to path all week. Most staff passing them every day and not picking up. Only Ceylon teabags mostly available. Not really catering for UK market. Overall a great holiday, but I think management needs to look into certain areas. Maybe give restaurant staff more responsibility and possibly job progression.

Thanks for a wonderful stay at Meliá Llana Beach Resort & Spa, and I would like to commend the hotel across all departments for the consistently high level of service provided. From reception to housekeeping, restaurants, bars, pool staff, spa and entertainment teams, everyone was professional, friendly, and genuinely attentive. The hotel is beautifully maintained, the food offering is varied and well presented, and the overall atmosphere is relaxing and refined. A massive thank you to Elisa from Guest Relations, who handled our request to change rooms with exceptional professionalism, efficiency, and kindness. She listened carefully, understood our needs, and resolved everything smoothly, turning a potential issue into a very positive experience. Her approach truly reflects the high standards of the Meliá brand. Thanks to the dedication of the entire team, our stay was memorable and stress-free. We would not hesitate to return and highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Sal, Cape Verde.

We had a fabulous holiday in Cape Verde. We have tried both Boavista & now Sal. We preferred Sal as we felt comfortable to explore further from the Hotel . It was safe walking to Santa Maria which is beautiful either by path or beach, we did both. The reason for choosing Melia Llana was because it was adults only 5* Hotel. Unfortunately, this is not the case I have stayed in many 5* Hotels and this doesn't come close. The Hotel offers an upgrade to what they call "The Level"at an extra charge of €40 per person per day. This is an absolute nonsense as the Hotel is already meant to be 5*. These " extra's"should have already been available to everyone with no extra charge. Having said all this, the Hotel is clean & the staff are friendly. The beach is beautiful, unfortunately if you like swimming in the sea it was too rough during our stay in January. But the kite surfing was amazing to watch.
