Unfortunately I only stayed at Cândida's fantastic accomadation for one night - but I know I will remember my stay for a long, long time. Why? Quite simply: I have never had an accomadation with a host that put so much effort into making me feel welcome. Some hotels may say that guests are family but Cândida made me actually feel that way. She picked me up at the airport, went shopping with me, giving tips and advice what to look out for and even brought me to a restaurant where we dined together, all the while having great conversations. I do not know if all of this would be possible with her accomadation at full capacity, but I know for a fact that hospitality and giving undivided attention to her guests' needs is more than just a priority for her. I can't remember the last time I felt quite so welcome. Besides the awesome proprietor the accomadation itself was modern and clean. The room was spacious with a very nice walk-in closet I did not have the opportunity to use. WiFi worked flawlessly and there was an AC I could have used but didn't need. Another standout was the breakfast - freshly made with local ingredients but also dishes that felt right at home in Germany, Austria or Switzerland. The quarters are very close to the airport and I suspect many people, myself included, book it for one night to then settle somewhere more touristy and beach adjacent. In hindsight I really would have liked at least one or two nights there because my latter five star hotel stay does NOT come close to the service and attention provided by this experienced and kind host. My advice: do at least two or three nights here and use those to explore Sal by car (a car or Cândida's shuttle service are NEEDED), all the while enjoying excellent hospitality and - if relevant to you - fluent German and great company. We spent five nights at Candida's place from late December to early January. We were initially looking to stay in Santa Maria, but we absolutely don't regret choosing Espargos. The town isn't overrun with tourists like Santa Maria, but more importantly, Candida is an exceptional host; we truly felt at home. Breakfast is fabulous, with fresh, home-cooked food (different every day) that we all shared together in a joyful mix of languages ​​(Spanish, Italian, German, English, Swiss German, Portuguese... Candida is multilingual!). Getting to the airport or Espargos wasn't a problem; our host always took us there and/or back with a smile. The accommodation is very clean and spacious, with plenty of closets and very comfortable beds. We were also lucky enough to be invited for New Year's Eve dinner, and Candida is a fantastic cook. In short: definitely one of our best memories of Cape Verde. Candida: Thank you for everything and best of luck. Aude, Jm and Marion

I can only say positive things about our stay at Candida's! ❤️ Our flight was unfortunately delayed by several hours, but we were still warmly welcomed at the airport. Afterwards, we went out for dinner and spent a lovely evening. The rooms are very, very clean, the bed linen and towels are perfect, and there's even air conditioning and a fan in the room! We felt incredibly comfortable and I can highly recommend a stay here :)

My wife and I recently had the pleasure of staying at the guest house on Sal, Kleine Schweiz - LAFAYETTE and I have to say it was an absolutely wonderful experience. The guest house is located in a beautiful part of the island, surrounded wide open spaces and a view of the volcano topped with clouds. The rooms at the guest house are spacious, clean, and well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay. The beds are extremely comfortable and the bathrooms are modern and well-maintained. The views from the rooms are also breath-taking and the sunsets are absolutely stunning. The food was absolutely delicious - a wide variety of dishes for breakfast. The owners were extra friendly, helpful, and always willing to go above and beyond to make sure our dining experience was enjoyable.
