I tried the best cachupa on the island here. The portion was big, and it tasted like my grandma had cooked it - incredibly tasty The waiting time was also very short, around 10 minutes, I think. Highly recommend.

Good portions, good prices, amazing food. Service was also wholesome. Great place to sit and watch the daily life of Espargos.

Cachupa, a Cape Verdean dish served for breakfast with eggs (350 escudos) or with an omelet (400 escudos). Today I ordered this cachupa, and one of the women serving it wiped a child’s vomit–phlegm with her hand, then wiped her hand on a dry napkin and wrapped my fork and knife in a napkin with those same hands. I asked her to wash her hands (I hope they didn’t spit in my food after that), and she cleaned her hands with sanitizer. I ended up eating with a coffee spoon.

Great food. I ate here 3 times. Pork, chicken, rice and chips were my favourite for 500 escudos. Friendly owner and serving girls. Has aircon.
