Joao an Leia are the best hosts one can have in Cha das Caldeiras. We spent there 3 days and we even hiked Pico do Fogo with Joao. Their hospitality, willingess to help and kindness cannot be compared to anyone else's. Both adapt to any situation and they were so humble and caring that I cannot do anything else other than recommend them.

The place is really nice, the owner is super helpful. She booked us a guide to the volcano, and organized our transfer to and from the port. On our way back, we walked to Mosteiros so they picked us up there with our bags so we wouldn't have to carry them. Breakfast is really good, served in the rooms, and the owner leaves it to you the night before if you have to get up really early the next morning. Every detail here is thought of. Electricity comes and goes (usually we woke up and there was no power until 7/8 am) but it's because they have solar panels so it's part of the charm of staying in this village :)

Beautiful accommodation under the volcano. The owners are very nice and helpful. They will arrange a transfer, a local guide for trips. We really appreciate the ecological approach and beautiful accommodation in a traditional style. There are restaurants and small shops nearby.

Lea and João were amazing hosts – always available, super friendly, and incredibly helpful. They gave us great tips and supported us with everything we needed. With its warm and personal atmosphere, their place was the perfect base for hiking Pico do Fogo. We felt completely at home. Highly recommended!

We spent 2 nights in EcoFunco and our experience was amazing!! I could not recommend it more: rooms are super clean and extremely well curated in all little details. Breakfast is also super rich and flavoured, we left at 6am and it was served early. We hiked to the top of the vulcano with João (host) as a guide and that was great as well, he’s very professional and kind, you will be in very good hands 👌🏻
