Stop 1: Picos
Visit this small agricultural village where many residents live off the land. Discover Mount Ngulilansa, a unique rock formation that resembles a strange animal. Considered one of the seven natural wonders of Cape Verde, it is a point of pride for Santiago Island.
Stop 2: Assomada
The second-largest city on the island and its main commercial hub, Assomada comes alive on Wednesdays and Saturdays with its colorful fresh market — a lively space full of local culture. Depending on the time, you may stroll along the pedestrian street, talk with street vendors, or visit the central church.
Stop 3: Serra Malagueta Natural Park
Enjoy breathtaking scenery at about 800 m (2,625 ft) altitude, featuring panoramic viewpoints and great opportunities to photograph Santiago’s lush vegetation.
Stop 4: Tarrafal
Free time in the charming coastal village of Tarrafal. Relax on the white-sand beach, watch the fishermen, savor a seafood lunch, or try a passion fruit and lime caipirinha at a beach bar.
